MACROS MACROS MACROS
Everyone asks me to help them with Macros. For the uninitiated, “macros” refer to the 3 Macronutrients — Carbs, Protein, and Fat — considered the main building blocks of food. Establishing and maintaining the proper ratio of macronutrients is the most important factor in any nutrition goal. Weight loss, muscle gain, performance, aesthetics, you name it: manipulating energy balance (calories consumed vs. calories burned) is the foundation for EVERYTHING.
But here’s the problem with being laser focused on macros and forgetting everything else:
I give you macro numbers to target; you hit them by eating ice cream, pizza, and beef jerky. Your caloric intake is less than your caloric output so, you lose weight. YAY! But, You have no energy, sex drive, and you can’t sh*t consistently to save your life. See the problem? Macronutrient balance is one tool in a large and complex nutrition toolbox. Sure, you can get a lot done with one tool and you will achieve your objective (losing weight) but when we use ALL the tools together we can achieve life changing results.
I teach all my clients how to build a proper relationship with food through education, accountability, and empowerment. Food is fun, it tastes good, its a major social component. So, don’t reduce your food to a number, be an active participant in your nutritional journey — its not something that needs to be stressful. Take charge, win your health.
This is a quick, surface level explanation. If you are looking for more information on this subject or know someone who would benefit from this, forward it to them and reach out! I will go into more detail in future posts but working 1-on-1 is a game changer and I work with anyone who is willing to commit. My inbox is always open!
The Next Evolution
Supersapiens is pioneering live glucose monitoring. Think heart rate tracking but for blood sugar. The health tech company combines the gamification popularized by players like Whoop & Fitbit and the technology of Abbot (the World’s leading Contninuous Glucose Monitor (CGM) provider—$5 billion ARR). This marks the 1st time CGM tools will be available to the non-diabetic public.
Why it Matters
The gamification of health is essential to the future of our species. Nearly 100 Million Americans are pre-diabetic and most don’t know. Supersapiens trades the sterile, cold walls of a bloodwork facility for a shiny, colorful app in your pocket. The opportunity for education, awareness, and reduction in Type II Diabetes is massive. Imagine a day where friends are jockeying for the top spot on the “healthiest blood glucose levels” like its Mario Kart. It’s closer than you think.

Process over Prizes
Copy successful people. Find individuals who reflect your idea of “success” and imitate their behaviors and habits. Pursuing processes over outcomes (prizes) is a damn good recipe for happiness. Here’s a piece of Buddhism I contemplate often:
“Desire is a contract that you make with yourself to be unhappy until you get what you want.”
Look, you’re going to hate your job if its sole purpose is to make you money. Money is fantastic and pursuing wealth is necessary to achieve base level needs, but a noble pursuit is far more fulfilling. People say find what you love to do and you will never work a day in your life — that is incredulously idealistic and overwhelming. What if you aren’t super passionate about something? Here’s my mindset: Find some things you like and then reverse engineer that hobby into a source of income. It will be way harder than a 9-5, but a 9-5 sucks anyway. Outcomes are overrated. Pursue processes.
