The financial system is experiencing a massive decentralization of power. Moving from a few massive, too big to fail banks to thousands of smaller, specialized players within specific niches. Investment vehicles previously restricted to the extremely wealthy (think Art, rare cars, collectibles) are available to anyone. You definitely know Bitcoin, but the Crypto Currency is the tip of the iceberg; and underneath is a massive collection of freshly unlocked asset classes available to the masses. A robinhood-esque financial paradigm shift was inevitable and — HELLO—it’s happening now. Hop on board or stay on the shore and wave as the largest redistribution of wealth passes through the harbor and into the deep sea.
Fear not, I have made furthering your financial IQ easy. Start with this hour long conversation between two of the most innovative minds in the industry.

Re: Our Deep Insecurities
Here’s a screenshot of a convo between me and one of my closest friends while I was writing and editing Nutrition Is Not a Hat. I felt like creating wasn’t worth my time because I didn’t have some sprawling, world-changing purpose. I think we fall for the ideal we are going to be overcome with an all consuming meaning for our lives; one day we will just know what we are supposed to do. Poetic, but ultimately toxic. I’ve realized there doesn’t need to be a super deep reason for doing anything. If you like doing something do it, feel like an imposter? Cool. Do it anyway.2

I’ve been intimidated to share my thoughts on fintech because I don’t have a formal financial background. I went to college for tech but not finance. It’s weird how my hesitancy to talk about finance is based solely on the fear of social denial due to my lack of education from a formal institution. My knowledge is built on the backs of Youtube, Twitter, and online freelance education. In my opinion, I believe it’s better anyway. My education is free from the biases of tenured professors and institutions with corporate ties. I learn from the most innovative Billionaires, CEO’s, and Founders; they are my teachers, mentors, and leaders — access to life-changing education has been democratized. Anyway, I’m passionate about fintech and will write more regardless of my imposter syndrome.
Love you Chaker!
